Nico Collins Claps Back at C.J. Stroud Doubters

Posted Apr 23, 2026

Houston, TX – The Houston Texans have entered another offseason filled with questions, yet doubts still linger about whether their young quarterback can lead long-term success.

Despite a promising regular season and flashes of elite play, critics continue questioning whether C.J. Stroud’s growth is truly sustainable after a brutal playoff collapse.

Inside the locker room, however, that narrative has been strongly pushed back by those who experienced the journey alongside him firsthand.

Nico Collins made his stance clear, delivering a direct and emotional defense of his quarterback’s ability and leadership.

“If you think C.J. Stroud is a fluke, come say it to my face. This dude is a baller. We all know who he is. Don’t let one bad game define him — he’s still the leader and the star of this team.”

That message reflects more than confidence — it represents belief built through adversity, adjustment, and shared growth during three demanding NFL seasons together.

During the 2024 and 2025 seasons, Stroud consistently relied on Collins as his most trusted and targeted receiving option. Their chemistry was often described as “bread and butter,” producing big plays and clutch moments that helped carry the Texans’ offense.

Although the 2025 playoff run ended in disappointment — highlighted by multiple turnovers in the Divisional Round loss to the Patriots — Collins remained a stabilizing presence and vocal supporter for the young quarterback.

Even after the tough exit, Collins continued to serve as one of Stroud’s biggest advocates, emphasizing that one poor postseason does not erase everything Stroud has shown as a franchise QB.

The partnership is still very much alive, and Collins’ comments reflect deep respect, belief, and a clear understanding of what Stroud is capable of becoming.

For Collins, the message is simple: there is no fluke, only a quarterback still writing the next chapter of his career — and the Texans are betting on him to do exactly that.

Just 12 Hours After Texans Owner Cal McNair Was Forced to “Sell Cheap” the $120 Million Houston Texans Sports Performance Center to Governor Greg Abbott, the State of Texas Suddenly Announced the “Houston Oilers Revival” Project
Houston, Texas — In just 12 hours, a rapid chain of events has pushed the Houston Texans into the center of an unprecedented crisis. It began when Cal McNair was pressured to “sell cheap” the $120 million Houston Texans Sports Performance Center. The demand came from Governor Greg Abbott, who argued the facility should be treated as a “state asset.” Leaked documents indicate the proposed valuation was only around $58 million, nearly $62 million below its actual worth.  That gap of more than 50 percent immediately sparked outrage across the fanbase and wider league circles. The facility had also received over $35 million in upgrades over the past five years. Forcing a sale below even its investment value led many to call it a “legalized asset strip.” Just hours later, the situation grew even more confusing as the state suddenly unveiled the Houston Oilers Revival project. The project was introduced with a total investment of $210 million, including more than $140 million in public funding. The timing of the Oilers Revival announcement led many to believe it was a media shield meant to calm public backlash. Some believe that if the Texans were to leave, the Oilers Revival would be used to fill the emotional void left behind.  That perception has only deepened the sense among Texans fans that they are being replaced. Internal reports also reveal that over $18 million in project expenses remain unexplained. Even more concerning, the project was approved in just 72 hours, an unusually fast timeline compared to standard procedures. Those figures have fueled suspicion that financial controversies are being concealed behind the scenes. Meanwhile, the Texans organization has remained silent, allowing tensions to continue rising. Analysts now believe this is no longer simply a financial dispute. It has become a direct clash between private ownership rights and political authority in professional sports. Forcing a sale at more than a 50 percent loss sets a dangerous precedent across the NFL. “We have invested hundreds of millions of dollars and more than a decade building here, but when value is distorted and replaced by other projects, we are forced to question fairness and the future we believed in.” That sentiment reflects not only leadership frustration but also the voice of a passionate fanbase. A quick poll shows over 70 percent of Texans fans oppose the state’s decision.  Many believe the Oilers Revival is not a solution, but a distraction meant to soften the reaction if the Texans are pushed out. Trust between the team and the city is now under serious strain. And if left unresolved, this moment could reshape the entire sports landscape in Houston.
